About this client

The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony (KWS) was founded in 1945 by Dr. Glenn Kruspe and has remained at the heart of Kitchener-Waterloo’s cultural community. A major moment in its evolution was the creation of the KWS Youth Orchestra in 1966 under the direction of Musical Director Raffi Armenian. During his tenure as musical director, the KWS grew to be a full orchestra making several recordings and earning several JUNO nominations. In 2006 divisions within the organization almost drove the KWS to bankruptcy. The fundraising campaign “Save Our Symphony” received overwhelming support from the community and raised $2.3 million. Currently the KWS is a thriving orchestra that provides the community with a diverse and well-rounded concert season. The KWS receives recognition on a national and international level for its artistry and innovative programming, as well as on a local level for its involvement in education and youth outreach programs.
